VTEL Introduces Dramatically Lower Vista Pricing

Plus - New, Entry-Level Product - Vista EZ

VTEL has released dramatically lower pricing for their entire Vista product line while at the same time simplifying and rationalising the  price list; two actions aimed at making VTEL the easy option to sell for channel partners.

The SRP's are lower, the reseller prices are lower and many of the  trade-in prices are even more attractive.

The New Pricing

SRP pricing on the entire range of endpoints has been reduced.  Here are some examples based on FOB Austin.

New Vista EZ Launched

If you thought that the new prices were good news, wait till you see the price of the new Vista EZ!

This is VTEL's new baby which will be formally announced next month.  An entry-level product with a fresh, modern look.  It's bright silver, small (only 1U height) and shallower and narrower than the VX.  It's also the quietest of the Vista range so running it on the executive desk is definitely on!

Being IP-only, it will suit the growing use of LAN's, WAN's and xDSL services for video communications. The EZ can be positioned as an  executive personal system in the corporate markets but it is also perfect for education and healthcare too as more and more schools, colleges, universities and hospitals are connected by big IP networks.

So, what about those prices?

Vista VX-P Replaces the VX

The Vista VX has been replaced by the VX-P.  This is the "integrator's codec" announced recently with 5 video inputs (all PTZ if required) and 3 balanced microphone inputs packed into the same case size as the standard VX - and with an SRP lower by $6,000!

Windows XP and Windows 2000

VCS 4.0 is Here!

The latest iteration of the Vista software, version 4.0, is ready to roll.  First customer shipments will begin in November.  This will allow all Vista platforms to run under Microsoft's Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating systems.

Now you can go back to those customers who wouldn't or couldn't upgrade until XP/2000 was available with VTEL's lowest-ever trade-in prices and a stack of benefits to beat the appliance competitors.

This is a major opportunity for all VTEL channel partners to revisit those customers still using ageing VTEL ESA and Galaxy platforms or even competitors' codecs.  VTEL’s industry-leading upgrade program offers them H.323, video-over-IP capability plus the opportunity to maximise the network connection benefits of VTEL’s PC architecture.

Benefits like:

4   instant access to the corporate LAN/WAN and files on their own desktop PC, their laptop or the corporate servers.

4  ad-hoc access to spreadsheets, word processing documents, project planning files and PowerPoint slides.

4  access to enterprise software applications in decision support, finance, engineering etc.

4  access to other network resources like printers, CD/DVD drives, scanners

4  access to the world wide web and all the information and communications options that the Internet can provide.

4  centralised endpoint management and call launching using SVNM or other, third-party management applications

Plus, of course, working with a new operating system like Windows XP brings immediate benefits to VTEL users by bringing unsurpassed ease of use and interconnectivity.  It will be a simple matter to exploit these capabilities by plugging external devices into the front and side-facing USB sockets on the Vista.  Devices like:

4  digital cameras for sharing still images

4  wireless network adaptors to offer real “rollabout” solutions

4  USB memory chips for transferring big files between PC’s

4  colour printers and scanners to easily accommodate hard-copy input and output.

… the list is endless.

Of course, those customers who already have Vista MX and VX systems may also upgrade their operating systems with no hardware changes necessary as these systems have been shipping “Win2000 and XP ready” since their introduction**

**For Vista Pro, channel partners should send serial number to Intermedia to determine if hardware modifications are necessary.

All pricing is FOB Austin, TX and excludes VAT or equivalent local sales tax.
